Finspan is a strategic engine-building game where players take on the role of marine researchers exploring the ocean's depths to discover and study a wide variety of fish species. As a sequel to Wingspan, it builds on familiar mechanics while introducing new ones tailored to an aquatic setting. Players build an underwater tableau across three depth zones—Sunlight, Twilight, and Midnight—placing fish based on their habitat needs. Instead of using food tokens, players pay for new fish by discarding cards, creating a streamlined flow of decision-making. Over four rounds, players will lay eggs, hatch them into young, and form schools to earn points. Diver tokens are used to activate columns of fish abilities, triggering powerful combinations. With 135 beautifully illustrated fish cards and a focus on marine ecology, Finspan offers a fresh yet familiar experience for fans of Wingspan, with plenty of depth for both casual and strategic players.
